Elections Have Rules for a Reason!

An Investigative Essay by John M Jones III (11/13/18)

As we all know elections have consequences and in order to for us to have elections are fair and free from fraud, we have LAWS that dictate the procedures that ALL voters must follow so that their ballots are counted.

Some of these LAWS include signature matching, time deadlines, and one as simple as filling out the ballot properly. The law requiring a matching signature is important to make sure the voter is the same person who made the registration. We must make sure that we have ALL valid voters not ones from illegal or legal non-citizens and none from dead people! It does not disenfranchise anyone as some would have you believe to require a matching signature, but even if you do believe it does it is the law and it cannot be overruled by sleezy lawyers on either side or activist judges who want to throw away the law and our country with the bath water.

The current law requiring a time deadline to turn in absentee ballots is important to make sure that that ALL votes are counted in a timely fashion. On election day the polls open and close at a stated time according to current LAWS so why is it so different to have a time deadline for these absentee ballots to be turned in. If a voter does NOT turn the ballot in on time whose fault is that? The voters! How long we should accept the mail-in ballots: one month, one year, five years, 10 years? Should we accept mail-in ballots from the 2000 elections? Even if you believe that we should it’s the LAW and it cannot be overruled by sleezy lawyers on either side or activist judges who want to throw away the law and our country with the bath water.

Another law to protect our elections is that the voter must properly complete the ballots. Even though some the elections officials think they are mind readers and that they can know the intent of the voters THEY can’t and don’t. That’s why the ballot directions MUST be correctly followed, and ballots MUST be completed properly. Ballots with mistakes by the voter cannot be counted for one simple reason: ALL voters can easily request a new ballot at the polling place to correct any of their own mistakes or their own mis-voting. It is the voter’s responsibility to make their vote count by following the rules that make their ballot valid and proper. Even if you don’t believe that it does it’s the LAW and it cannot be overruled by sleezy lawyers on either side or activist judges who want to throw away the law and our country with the bath water.

Voters MUST take responsibility for their own actions. If voters do not follow the law when voting it’s NOT the candidate’s fault, it’s NOT supervisor of Elections fault, and it’s NOT the laws fault. It’s that fault of the voter for not following the rules established for a fair and free election. At some point we must hold voters accountable for their actions and stop letting them blame others for their inability to follow instructions.
